Summary

How can coaches help their athletes to make better decisions? Using basketball drills to demonstrate what scientists have learned about the brain, coaches from PYSC and the Anderson Monarchs lead a hands-on workshop designed to give participants the tools necessary for teaching athletes to think more clearly -- both on and off the court.

Description

The second workshop in PYSC's "Skill Development for Coaches" series, this hands-on session is open to anyone leading programming at Philadelphia Parks & Recreation facilities (paid or volunteer) and PYSC's member organizations. Participants will learn the basics of how the brain processes information while playing sports, how to train athletes to recognize cues and patterns to make faster decisions, and core basketball drills to help athletes develop their athletic decision-making. A stopwatch will be provided to all attendees and light refreshments will be served.

**THIS TRAINING IS OPEN TO ANYONE WHO COACHES OR WHOSE CHILD(REN) PLAY WITHIN THE PHILADELPHIA PARKS AND RECREATION SYSTEM***
